<p>Extra abdominal fat increases the risk of developing resistance to insulin. After you eat, the pancreas releases insulin. This insulin converts the sugars in the foods eaten to a type of fat called triglycerides which are then absorbed into the fat cells in the belly. The liver is responsible for removing insulin from the blood stream. However, excess belly fat leads to excess fat stored in the liver. This fat prevents the liver from effectively removing insulin from the blood stream. The insulin levels in the body therefore keeps on rising. </p>
<p>Excess insulin in the body may lead to more obesity because excess insulin gives you the urge to eat more food. Excess insulin also raises the level of bad cholesterol and decreases the level of good cholesterol which could lead to heart attacks.  Additionally, the high insulin levels in the body leads to diabetes and may also facilitate the growth of certain types of cancer such as colon cancer. </p>
<p>In order to get rid of belly fat, you need to consume fewer calories than your body needs. This allows your body to use up your excess body fat for energy. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>For many Mid-Life Dads, the beer belly is almost a badge of office.  A pressured lifestyle, long working hours, staying away on business; these and other factors all contribute.  Too often, the beer belly is the most obvious outward manifestation of deeper problems including unhealthy levels of stress, as well as a loss of drive and  passion affecting business, relationships and income. </p>
<p>But how does the mid-life beer belly affect your drive, passion, income level and the ability to handle pressure?   It’s not the beer belly that’s at fault – that’s just a symptom.  But, if you’d rather not put up with this unsightly symptom and would like to resurrect your drive, passion and income too, here are some simple practical steps to get to work on the underlying causes and get results &#8211; fast! </p>
<p>1. It’s easy to eat a healthy balanced diet as a matter of routine when you know how and can fit this into a challenging lifestyle. Consistently eating a healthy diet with plenty of green vegetables, 25g of fibre a day, fruit, healthy fats and lean protein is one of the best ways to shift the beer belly and boost your drive, passion and income level at the same time. </p>
