Do You Know How to Lose Belly Fat?
Knowing and understanding how to lose weight is pretty important if you want to succeed in the battle of your bulge-your belly fat bulge, that is. Summertime, Wintertime, anytime at all is a good time to get started. Belly fat is not only unattractive, making your clothes hang funny on your body, but poses serious health risks, as well.
Living with belly fat is not written is not a commandment. It can be difficult to make the necessary changes, but it will be rewarding (and ultra-motivating!) when that weight starts to melt away. To change your shape, there are a number of different things you can do.
First, be sure to drink water and plenty of it. Water is good for several things. It will flush toxins and fat out of your body. It acts like a lubricant for your systems. Lack of water and excessive salt in the diet leads to bloat, which is a very uncomfortable existence.
Water will also keep the intestinal track operating smoothly. When the body is dehydrated, the first place it draws fluid from is the intestines, which is why constipation happens for no apparent reason. Drink plenty of water and this kind of constipation will never happen again. Keeping the intestinal track happy will help your belly fat loss to progress even faster.
Needless to say, you’re going to have to make some changes in your diet. Be sure to include plenty of fresh vegetables, fruits and whole grains. The fiber in these foods will also keep your intestinal track functioning happily.
Do not restrict your calorie intake too severely. If you’re body thinks famine has hit (what else does it know when there’s no food coming in?), it will go into starvation mode and your metabolism will slow down. Not a good thing when trying to lose excess weight, because your body is trying to hang on to it’s fuel storage, i.e. your belly fat.
No more alcohol for you. There’s a reason why they call it a “beer belly.” That’s where the empty calories from alcohol tend to wind up, and since drinking is easily over-indulged, you can ingest far too many calories than necessary, far too easily. Belly fat will accumulate rapidly if you drink a lot of alcohol.
Lack of sleep and too much stress with impede your progress, as well. Cortisol is a hormone the body produces to regulate the metabolism. When you’re under stress, cortisol production goes into overdrive and the metabolism slows down. A slow metabolism means belly fat loss slows down, too. The only way to bring cortisol back to its normal levels is by getting good, restful sleep.
If you’re stressed out and not getting good sleep, you may as well forget about losing your belly fat. If you cannot make the necessary changes to rid yourself of stress, then consider taking up meditation, yoga and/or Tai Chi. These practices will help you cope with stress and the cortisone levels will normalize, allowing the metabolism to burn off your excess weight.
Sometimes genetics will play a part in how you store fat. But knowing how to lose belly fat, knowing how your body systems are involved, knowing what’s good and what’s bad for you-all these things will go a long way towards your success at losing that belly fat.
